If you have any further comments on the Vision, please provide them below. What do you like, or dislike, or what would you change?
I agree with all the points of the Vision, but wonder how it can be achieved when, for example, arts and music funding is being cut in schools, which means a danger of means testing culture for all.

I totally agree. Culture is not just a spectator sport, it underpins personal and community life and is vital part of the wellbeing of all.

5. Please provide comments on the aims and actions under this ambition. What do you like, or dislike, or what would you change?

I feel that some of this has been done before. It's great to involve academic partners as a way to prove that cultural activities have a beneficial effect on health and wellbeing, but the results of any partnerships need to be widely publicised, not restricted to academia and those who have commissioned the research. Part of this process will be finding a way to engage all walks of life to ensure that "culture" is not viewed as something elite that is not for the ordinary person.

Empowering through culture

This ties in with my comments in the previous section in its plan to extend the view of culture to include the everyday. Absolutely!

I totally agree with this. I'm part of a small community group that is called a "Cultural Association" - we called it this because our view was that "culture" covers many different things (sport, music, art, environment, theatre, literature, etc.), but we have often received the comment that the title sounds rather "snobby". It would be great if the new Culture Strategy could somehow address this.

I like the view. We need to ensure that culture embraces all.

I support all of these as long as they are for all.

Delivering A Culture Strategy for Scotland

13. What can you or your organisation do to support the vision, aims, ambitions and actions of the strategy?

What can you or your organisation do to support the vision, aims, ambitions
Our small group does what we can to promote "culture" as widely as possible, partly through sending out an "events list" by email every week or so, detailing events that are going on in the local area. It's amazing how much variety there is, but it's not always easy to find out about it.

14. What do you think success for the strategy will look like?

What do you think success for the strategy will look like?
More engagement in more activities for more people.

If you have further comments on the proposed monitoring and evaluation approach, please provide them below.
Monitoring and evaluation is always very difficult and I think there is a danger, as in my earlier comments, that it is restricted to those who are most closely involved in the process. Finding a way to evaluate the impact on "ordinary" people is much harder, as is assessing the impact on the health and wellbeing of the people who have engaged with cultural activities.
