Please explain your answer.
From a tourism point of view, the instigation of an EA to provide focus for the South of Scotland would help to make identity improvements similar to that enjoyed by the Highlands for many years.

2. What would you like to see for the South of Scotland?

What would you like to see for the South of Scotland?
As a holiday tour operator for 14 years, - now recently retired, having attracted customers from throughout the world for cycling , walking and other holidays in Dumfries and Galloway region, the tourism product has been acclaimed. Overseas and UK customers have often been to 'The Highlands' and later discover D&G and are pleasantly surprised. We have had many repeat customers from overseas and the UK. Visitscotland appear to have historically promoted the 'easy to reach' The Highlands, major events and film locations. 'Hard to reach' areas such as D&G and the Borders have not really been overtly tackled. Maybe the new Agency can do this. With the success of the North Coast 500 adding to the Highlands popularity, there is an opportunity to at last concentrate more on other areas. A German tour operator I met at the ITB Berlin trade fair commented that could not sell tours in the south of Scotland because everybody was 'directed to' and wanted to go to the Highlands, so much so he had to change the name of a tour (not in D&G)from 'Royal Deeside ' to Royal Highlands, even although technically not in the Highlands!
