Why your views matter

Under Part 1 of the Land Reform (Scotland) 2016 Act, Scottish Ministers must prepare, consult upon and publish a Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement. This forms a key part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to end the ‘stop-start’ nature of land reform. This consultation is an opportunity to express your views on the content of the Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement.

What happens next

Analysis

The responses to this consultation will undergo an independent analysis. The results of the analysis will be taken into consideration when drafting the final Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement.

Publication

The finalised Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement will be laid before the Scottish Parliament, alongside a report setting out the consultation process undertaken and the ways in which views expressed during that process have been taken account of in preparing the Statement. The duty on the Scottish Ministers to promote the principles in the Statement will come into force on 1 October 2017.
