Yes I think that the difficulty of STEM subjects at N% and Higher compared to other subjects needs to be addressed. Perhaps a weighting system recognising that young people are taking more difficult choices?

I don't know that STEM subjects are being advertised in the correct way. My perception is that a level playing field with other subjects is required

As a teacher I am too busy to fully engage with what is being done. I am not alone.

Unsure - Teaching staff are busy teaching and "selling" their subjects and always have done. Why are numbers drastically falling?

Money ! - Make the festivals free, Pay STEM graduates more. Advertise more Young people often don't see the relevance or importance of STEM subjects. Offer work based training opportunities Offer well paid appranticeships

Yes - work based training and a recruitment drive for young people who are using STEM subjects into desirable, rewarding careers

Primary teachers still don't have the space in their busy schedules to do much science and many may feel that they don't have the skills or the resources to deliver high quality STAM subjects lessons

What could employers do to attract and retain more diverse STEM talent?
Recognise that STEM subjects are harder/ advise more young people to do double / triple science/ Keep the science subjects in a science only column on option forms In this school attractive options our four best Higher chemistry pupils chose to do higher PE rather than Advanced Highers. Reward our best pupils by allowing them to study AH in their own school rather than "farming" them out. Teachers will lose the skills of delivering AH
