I think the overall strategy is correct but would support training and development of the current workforce to up skill. It can be very beneficial to build on current skills as an enhancement. To strengthen the work force and give them transferable skills.

I think that the actions are having a positive impact. With any promotion of certain disciplines these take years to embed. I would expect to see positive improvements over the next 5 years.

The earlier that the term STEM and understanding of what this means is introduced would be the first stop. Make it fun to learn - this is proven to encourage young people to think about STEM. STEM ambassador programme should be continued.

Do you agree with the principles set out for implementation?
I don't think we should put all our focus on Local Authorities and FE Colleges. There are trade associations and non for profit training providers who deal directly with a large number of employers and potential candidates.

Early delivery in schools - ensuring that the content is gender neutral. Make it fun and interesting.

Overall, do you think this Strategy is clear and action focused? Do you think that the actions that we propose to take nationally will achieve the aims and intended outcomes?
Yes it is clear - I don think the main focus should be gender related - STEM should be for all. I think that we require better and more careers advice from an early age. This means more and better informed careers staff to allow face to face time with pupils.

10. Will this Strategy improve equity of outcomes? If not, tell us what else it should include, in particular for women and girls and other groups of people – disabled people, care leavers and minority ethnic communities.

I am confident that this will improve the equity of outcomes but not in the short term - even 5 years is a relatively short time.
