Plant Health Exports Audited Trader Scheme (PHEATS) - Scottish Membership

Closed 15 Dec 2023

Opened 23 Oct 2023

Overview

The purpose of this consultation is to seek views from interested parties who export low-risk fruit, vegetables and cut flowers to join the Plant Health Audited Trader Scheme (PHEATS) which has been operational in England and Wales.

PHEATS is a voluntary exports scheme for the movement of low-risk fruit, vegetables and cut flowers to the EU and Northern Ireland. Official phytosanitary inspections will be carried out by an authorised person(s) to ensure that any consignments exported under the scheme meet the requirements of the importing country.

Why your views matter

The Scottish Government would like to gauge the interest of Scottish fruit, vegetable and cut flowers exporters in joining PHEATS. We also would like to know if you think joining PHEATS would be useful for your business, and we would like to hear your own views on our proposals about PHEATS.

What happens next

After the consultation has closed, we will analyse the responses received and these will inform the decision making process for the implimentation of PHEATS in Scotland. Where respondents have given permission for their response to be made public, we will publish an analysis of them along with a scanned copy of the response(s).
