Section 6 – Asking about a person’s daily living activities
The following questions ask about the daily living part of the Adult Disability Payment application form rather than the rules about the daily living part as set out in Section 6 of the Consultation Paper. If you would like to comment on the rules for the daily living part, please see Section 4.
What are daily living activities?
The daily living section of the Adult Disability Payment application looks at a person’s ability to carry out everyday activities. There are 10 activities for the daily living component:
- Preparing food
- Taking nutrition
- Managing therapy and monitoring a health condition
- Washing and bathing
- Managing toilet needs or incontinence
- Dressing and undressing
- Communicating verbally
- Reading and understanding signs, symbols and words
- Engaging socially with other people face to face
- Making budgeting decisions.
