Closes 9 Jan 2026

Project overview

What is the name of the project?

Please provide a name for the project, for example 'Prestwick to Ayr Cycleway'

Please describe your project
What design stages are you seeking funding for?

If you wish to apply for both, you will need to complete two separate applications.

(Required)
What is the total amount of funding you need to progress this project in 2026-27 (in GBP)?

Please enter the total amount of funding that you are seeking for this project from all funding sources in 2026-27. For example, the total cost may be £200,000, with £50,000 coming from another funding source and the remaining £150,000 needed from the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund. In this example, you should enter 200000 (representing £ 200,000) here.

What is the total amount you wish to receive from the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund in 2026-27 for this project (in GBP)?

We would like to know the amount you are asking for from the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund in 2026-27. For example, the total cost may be £200,000, with £50,000 coming from another funding source and the remaining £150,000 needed from the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund. In this example, you should enter 150000 (representing £ 150,000) here.

What other sources of funding are there for the design (and/or construction if applicable) of this project in 2026-27?

Please tell us about any other sources of funding for this project in 2026-27, for example through Levelling Up Fund, City Region Deal, other named Scottish Government funds etc. and outline if they are timebound.

Note that while ATIF can fund 100% of design costs, for future construction, match contributions will be expected dependent on the size and nature of projects. In particular, funding contributions are to be provided by recipients for non-core elements such as placemaking, public realm features and benefits accrued by non-active travel modes.

Note that if you are seeking construction funding for the same project in 2026-27 from ATIF you will require to complete a separate application.

Is this a multi-year project?
(Required)

Please provide cost details about the project if design or construction will span multiple financial years. It is appreciated that for stages 0-2 you may not have this information, however please input what you have. This is required for stages 3-4.

Note that the ATIF 2026-27 can only guarantee funding in financial year 2026-27 for successful applicants. However, projects which span multiple years may be prioritised in future years, subject to budget availability, suitable progress being made and internal Transport Scotland assurance/approval processes.

Although funding will only be awarded for design through this application, we would like to know what the likely construction costs for the project are as currently known along with proposed phasing, and what are the likely future requests from ATIF are for these.

Please provide total construction cost (including what assumptions have been made when developing these e.g. if Optimism Bias has been included/applicable/available noting what level is included where it is) and a breakdown of that cost by year, how much you may request from ATIF, along with any relevant caveats.
