We asked

To help inform the development of the Second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2), we asked for views on the draft report, recommendations and impact assessments. We also sought views on the STPR2 process.

In total 382 responses were received to the online consultation. 256 responses were from individuals and 126  from organisations, with a broad range of different organisations and interests represented. A further 72 responses were received via the dedicated project email and postal addresses. We also ran 30 consultation information sessions to promote the consultation exercise and provide an overview of STPR2 and the 45 draft recommendations. British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters attended three of the information sessions for wider stakeholders and Equalities groups.

Overall, the feedback received identified that there was broad support for the 45 draft recommendations. More region-specific recommendations produced a range of views including a number of ‘don’t knows’ reflecting their region specific nature.

We did

We have published non-confidential responses to the consultation where respondents indicated permission to do so.

Responses have been analysed to help inform the final STPR2 recommendations, Impact Assessments and Delivery Plan. An analysis and summary of the responses have been  published on the Transport Scotland website alongside the final STPR2 documents.

Overview

The second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2) Final Summary Report, sets out transport recommendations for the next 20 years. STPR2 is one of the mechanisms for delivering the Vision, Priorities and Outcomes of the second National Transport Strategy (NTS2).

It is an important tool for achieving the Government’s commitment to 20% reduction in vehicle kilometres by 2030 and contributing to Scotland’s net zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2045.  Also, addressing inequalities, improving health and wellbeing and contributing to inclusive economic growth.

A statutory consultation period of 12 weeks providing stakeholders, and members of the public, with the opportunity to comment, ran until 15 April 2022. Feedback from this consultation has been used to finalise the STPR2 publications and its 45 recommendations.

Please check the ‘We Asked, You Said, We Did’ section where we have reported on the outcomes from the STPR2 consultation.
