9. Do you have any questions about how the new model of neonatal care will work in practice?

Moving high risk mums and babies before baby is born to a suitable hospital is all well and good but what about in emergency circumstance? What happens to the mums and babies who are too fragile/sick to move? Skilled and experienced staff will not stay at a unit where they have been down graded and skills not being regularly used. This new model is outrageous and will be catastrophic for MANY families in Lanarkshire.

All babies matter, regardless if this only affects a few. Keep Wishaw Neonatal as main of the chosen specialist units. They are award winning! Best in the UK. Why take that away from the staff and most importantly the families of lanarkshire and all over!
Moving mums and babies away from home means taking them away from emotional and physical support of their families and friends and puts a huge amount of emotional and financial stress on families!

11. What support do you think parents will most need if their baby needs to spend time further from home in a neonatal intensive care unit?

No other support can substitute for being near home, with friends family around you. Many of these families will have other children which being separated from will also impact upon. The current expenses fund would need to be significantly increased for families who are far from home as travelling back home regularly or staying away will have HUGE impact on families.
