This statistics feedback survey is run by the Scottish Government and hosted on the Citizen Space platform.

We do not require any personal data from users responding to the feedback survey. However, we provide the option of responders to provide their name and email address if they wish to be contacted regarding their feedback. Email addresses may also be optionally provided in order to send an acknowledgement of response following submission.

The software that Citizen Space uses also stores information which is provided by your computer when you use the website. For example, your browser type, IP address, language preference, referring site, and the date and time. Delib's purpose in collecting this information is to maintain the security of the website and for the purposes of operating and improving the software.

Legal basis for processing your personal information

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your information on the basis that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

The public task is the production of Official Statistics, which are used to inform the development of public policy and benefit society more widely. The Scottish Government is a producer of Official Statistics as defined by section 6 of the Statistics and Registration Services Act 2007.

What we do with your information

The feedback collected will be used to improve statistical products produced by the Scottish Government. Your name and email address will be used in order to respond to your feedback where this has been requested.

We will not:

  • sell or rent your data to third parties
  • share your data with third parties for marketing purposes

We’ll share your data if we’re required to do so by law. For example, by court order, or to prevent fraud or other crime.

How long we keep your information

We will only keep your personal information for as long as:

  • we need it for the purposes listed above
  • we’re required to do so by law

We will conduct an annual exercise to delete feedback provided once it has been analysed and used to improve our statistical products.

Where your data is processed and stored

Your personal data is stored securely on the Citizen Space computer systems, using Delib software. Information will be made available to staff in the Office of the Chief Statisticians and other members of the Scottish Government’s statisticians group for the purpose of improving statistical products.

Delib will also process data collected in this survey on behalf of Scottish Government. Processing means (among other things) making sure this website runs properly, that your data is securely stored and is available to the data controller so that they can do their work effectively.

Your data will not be transferred and processed outside the United Kingdom and/or European Union.
