There are too many Airbnb properties in Lochaber and this is having a profound impact on the private rental sector. More affordable private renting or affordable housing is required. Limits should be put on the number of properties in an area allowed for holiday lets where there is a housing shortage. e.g. a percentage of overall housing allowed for let.
Airbnb should be more regulated. A tourism tax would also be useful, but cash should be ring fenced to go back into their communities. e.g. Lochaber receives investment rather than Highland Council investing money disproportionately in Inverness.
