Island Proofing

1. Is the concept of ‘Island-Proofing’ something the Scottish Government should consider placing in legislation through the proposed Islands Bill?

Any public sector body.
Also NGO's which have control of services needed or used by the residents of the islands.
What specific decisions?
Any decision which has an impact over the lives of island residents, which might incur constraints upon them which would not apply to mainland residents.

Empowering Island Communities

Within Argyll & Bute the islands have no or limited power. This should be changed to allow similar control (to the islands) as provided to or will be provided to the isles to the north.

Local Government Electoral Wards – populated Islands

13. Should the Scottish Government consider amending the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004 to allow the LGBCS the power to make an exception to the usual 3 or 4 member ward rule for use with respect to populated islands?
