Land Reform Act 2025 - Implementation

Community engagement obligations for large-scale landowners

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 was passed last year. Secondary legislation is now being developed regarding the community engagement obligations in the Act. This will set out how community engagement obligations should be met.

We have already heard from some stakeholders about this topic, and have used this feedback as a basis for this new activity. We now need to develop our understanding further, and see where priorities are and why.

The views gathered here will inform the drafting of the secondary regulations and supporting guidance. We then intend to consult on the draft regulations themselves.

Land Reform in a Net Zero Nation
