Young people in Scotland start school too early and are there too long. Most European and Scandinavian schools , children start later ( and pre- school education is based on play and relationships). For too many parents, school is a free child minding service and education is either or secondary or even no relevance

many young people cannot cope with this level of schooling - since pandemic, young people have changed massively

Teachers in schools are the experts. As long as they can validate why a young person cannot be in school for the "prescribed" number of hours, this should form part of any decision
