I feel these definitions are clear. Sometimes I have felt that attempts to engage learners in experiences through the use of hand over hand assistance has not always been beneficial to the learner. I feel that at times this approach is a physical intervention as it may be used against the will of the learner.

3. In addition to the safeguards (protections) to ensure lawful practice and protect the wellbeing of children and young people and staff listed in the ‘physical intervention’ section (pages 14-25), are there any other safeguards (protections) that should be included?

Some pupils with ASN may use seating or other positioning equipment that uses straps/belts to ensure the correct positioning as recommended by physiotherapy or occupational therapy. I feel this could be acknowledged somewhere within the guidance.
