Please explain your answer in the text box below
It is a human right to have a family life. It is well recognised that isolation leads to a deterioration in mental health and well being.

The individual has a right to see their family members when they wish ( with the caveat that the home may need to preserve certain times for personal care/ meals etc)

Health and Social Care Standards

2. Do you think that a new Health and Social Care Standard (or Standards) should be developed or should the existing Standards be strengthened?

Please select one item
Radio button: Ticked A new Standard is required
Radio button: Unticked The existing Standards could be strengthened
Radio button: Unticked We need to do both
Radio button: Unticked We don’t need to do either
Radio button: Unticked I don’t know
Please explain your answer in the text box below
The current standards leave too many loop- holes, such that care/ nursing homes choose to ignore them

3. If you think the existing Standards should be strengthened, please provide suggestions here.

Please provide suggestions in the text box below
The care home/ nursing home resident MUST be allowed visitors when they wish. They should be able to meet with several relatives at once, without booking being required( provided health and safety adhered to- surgical masks, negative lateral flow test)

4. If you think a new Standard (or Standards) is required, what do you think of the following options. Please rank them in order of preference, with 1 as your favourite.

Please rank these from 1 to 4
a) If I am an adult living in a care home, I can nominate a named visitor (and substitutes) who I am able to see and spend time with to support my health and wellbeing which meets my needs and preferences.
4
b) If I am an adult living in a care home, I can nominate a named visitor (and substitutes) who I am able to see and spend time with at any time to support my health and wellbeing which meets my needs and preferences.
3
c) If I am an adult living in a care home and visiting restrictions are needed to prevent infection, my named visitor (and substitutes) are supported by the service to continue to see and spend time with me, as long as it is safe.
2
d) If I am an adult living in a care home and visiting restrictions are needed to prevent infection, my named visitor (and substitutes) are supported by the service to be fully involved in supporting my health and wellbeing at any time.

This is the individual’s home and should be recognised as such. It is not a prison

6. Should the proposals apply only to people who live in an adult care home (residential and nursing) registered with the Care Inspectorate?

7. What do you see as the main benefits, challenges and risks of a proposal to update the Health and Social Care Standards to support people living in adult care homes have the right to see and spend time with those who are important to them?

Please add your answer in the text box below
Staff may be reluctant to increase visiting , but increased visiting need not be too onerous on staff. All that is required is that the visitor/ S sign is ( as already required by fire regulations anyway) and that lateral flow test result checked
