Challenges with the current system

Section 1 of this consultation describes the eligibility rules and approach to administration of the current Industrial Injuries Scheme. There are challenges related to age of the scheme, including the gender disparity within the Scheme and the significant costs of identifying and moving decades old paper files. In light of this evidence the Scottish Government believes that the priority should be long-term reform of the Scheme to meet the needs of the modern economy and workforce and that administration should be improved so that it is delivered in line with our social security principles and provides value for money.
