Transition to low and zero emission aviation

1. What more, if anything, should the Scottish Government and industry do to accelerate the transition to low/ zero emission aviation?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
Support Scottish Govt encouraging UK membership of EU schemes. Group travel is more sustainable, and we've been in a tour group. Other advantage of group travel on Whisky tour is reduction in drink driving. TS should work with Visits outland to support small specialist group organisers as a preferred partners to increase sustainable travel. Aviation is important for increasing UK short break groups.

2. What can the Scottish Government do to help increase the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
Tariffs on sustainable and traditional aviation fuels need to be:
Transparent
Easy to administer
Invested in further development of sustainable fuel
Scottish fuels should benefit Scottish environment
Linked to schemes of natural capital / ecosystem services
Conside use of waste materials such as draft from whisky industry

3. What do you think the Scottish Government can do to help ensure a just transition to net-zero for the Scottish aviation sector?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
Seems good to me

Scotland’s international connectivity

4. Considering future challenges and opportunities, what changes, if any, should we make to our approach to help achieve our aim for international connectivity?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
As a resident of Englanf my focus is on intra UK routes. Routes to Islands are important for me to support economy and communities of the islands, rather than drive from England to ferry ports.
Need to consider provision of hybrid cars at car hire facilities at airports.
Also in future electric cars and sufficient charging points to encourage consumer confidence.

5. Do you agree with the priority countries for short haul and long haul set out in the table?

11. Most air services in the Highlands and Islands are delivered on a commercial basis. How can the Scottish Government best work with the private sector to deliver the air services you think are needed?

12. How effective do you think the Air Discount Scheme has been at addressing high airfares?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
Resident subsidies seem a good idea but how do you ensure equal access to the disadvantaged. Limiting number of discounted journeys might disproportionately affect some people eg those undertaking medical treatment at major hospitals on Scottish mainland. Needs careful consideration and consultation.

13. How can the Scottish Government improve the Air Discount Scheme?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
See comments above.

14. What do you think about complementing the current operating model with an on demand service, such as air taxi?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
Seems likely to be difficult and expensive.

Scotland's domestic connectivity- Highland and Islands airports

17. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the operational model set out below?

Please provide your comments in the text box below
This consultation is too detailed.
Sections could ask where you live/ demographics before asking detailed questions eg island residents versus tourists.
