Overview

This consultation invites comments on our options to stabilise and simplify income support for land managers in Scotland in the period immediately after the UK Government takes us out of the European Union.

Our proposals seek to generate discussion within Scotland’s farming and crofting communities about how they can best be supported through the transition period from being supported by Direct Payments and funding through the Scottish Rural Development Programme to helping develop and test new approaches during a period of stability and ultimately a helping put in place a New Rural Policy framework aimed at delivering an entrepreneurial approach that promotes collaboration, helps facilitate integration and delivers long term stability.

Why your views matter

This consultation is aimed at those who currently benefit from Direct Payments or SRPD funding and includes farmers and crofters, land managers, agents and businesses and workers in the rural economy. It is also aimed at those who wish to influence the direction of policy in this area, as powers over agriculture return from Europe to Scotland in the period ahead.
