Victims of violent, and in particular, sexual crimes. I think there is a need to do this through a trauma informed approach, however these are also some of the most inherently vulnerable victims.
Attention should also be paid to research on how to better support victims of domestic violence.

The criminal justice system does not currently advocate or sufficiently support victims. This role should begin by recognising this and commissioning research/using existing research to establish a clear multi-year action plan.

I think there is a need for a clearer system of communication within the process. I have spent years for a sexual offence to reach the trial stage, and during that time there has been virtually no communication about timelines/processes unless I have actively pursued them. There is also a need for better trauma informed practise from police officers and more training should be offered to support this.

Please give reasons for your answer
Although I am still awaiting the trial in the case I have reported to conclude, I know that I would like to opportunity afterwards to tell my story. I have suffered from PTSD as a results of the offence, and being able to relay my own narrative of my life to those around me will be an empowering experience which helps to explain my life experiences and ongoing recovery. I think silencing victims who wish to share their story is another form of silencing many of us who have already struggled to find our voices in reporting.
