Land Management Plans

The Act sets out some key information that must be included in a plan, including:

  • Details of the land (e.g. a map showing boundaries)
  • Ownership of the land
  • What the owner is doing or plans to do with the land (including if they plan to sell some or all of it)
  • How the owner is following other requirements like the Scottish Outdoor Access Code or code of practice for deer management
  • Plans to reduce emissions, adapt to climate change or increase biodiversity
  • How they have consulted and taken into account a local place plan if there is one
1. What other information would you or your community find helpful for the plan to include?
2. What steps or actions would you or your community want the landowner to take to make sure that engagement is meaningful?

The landowner or their representatives will have to engage with the local community as part of the development of an LMP.

3. What guidance or other information would be helpful?

Your community may want to to prepare for these new duties on landowners and make the most of them.
