Community Engagement Obligations and draft large land holdings guidance under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2025

Closes 26 Jan 2027

Community Engagement Obligations: Land Management Plans - review of plans

The Act requires landowners to review their LMP(s), and if necessary revise their LMP, within 5 years of the date that the latest version of the LMP was made publicly available.

A landowner could choose to produce a LMP that covers a longer period such as 10 or 15 years, but would still need to review each 5 years.

The regulations and guidance can provide more information on how landowners could or should conduct a review of their LMP.

44. What should landowners consider when they review their LMP?
45. Should landowners engage with the community as part of their review, and why?
46. If landowners do not need or plan to revise their LMP following a review, should they need to produce a statement or short report of the review?
